Inclement Weather and Outdoor Time
The Waldorf School of St. Louis will delay start or close on snow days when seriously inclement weather or dangerous street conditions are found to be present. Changes in the schedule for the coming day will be shared by 6:oo AM, or the prior evening by 10:00 PM, when possible.
A delayed schedule due to inclement weather will adjust the school day to begin 1.5 hours later than normal, resulting in a start time of 10:00 AM.
Once the Operations Committee has determined the need for a closing, we will begin the school closure process.
News Channel 5 will be utilized to share school closings due to inclement weather.
Announcements will be shared immediately on the school phone voicemail, by email, and by social media.
The School Closure Team will contact Faculty, Staff, and Room Parents (who will then contact the other parents of their respective classes).
In the event of unexpected conditions requiring a school closure (i.e., water main break, power outage, etc.) occurring while school is in session, the administrative staff will send an urgent parent email or text alert and initiate the phone tree by calling room parents. The school voicemail will be updated when appropriate.

Indoor Start
When the wind-chill temperature is below 0', or during severe weather conditions, our day will begin with an indoor start. A school representative will be present at the Early Childhood and Grades' drop-off areas to greet children and accompany them to their respective classrooms.
We request that Grades' parents, including Grade 1, park at Ivory Crockett Park, where our Grades' representative will guide the students safely across the street and to their classrooms, helping avoid any traffic congestion.
DO NOT stop in front of the buildings to drop your children off.
If the temperature rises, students will have outdoor time according to our inclement weather chart. (SEE ABOVE) Please ensure your children are dressed in layers and appropriate gear.
